Etihad Aviation Group continues to undergo a strategy review. The latest result of the confabulations is that a new business structure has been announced that would include new appointments to its leadership team. This new structure will see Tony Douglas, chief executive officer of Etihad Aviation Group, assume responsibility for Etihad Airways, according to Gulf News.

Peter Baumgartner, the chief executive since 2016, will now serve as senior strategic advisor to Douglas. Baumgartner will advise at the group level on global partnerships and innovation, Etihad said in a statement.

Last month, Etihad reported a loss of $1.52 billion for 2017. These changes in the structure come amidst the ongoing review meeting to improve the business of the airlines. This is the second consecutive year of loss after Etihad $1.95 billion in losses in 2016.

The group will be reorganised into seven business division under this structure- operations, commercial, human resources, finance, support services, transformation, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

On the new business structure of the airline, Tony Douglas “already seeing positive results” at this phase of its transformation. “We are now well-equipped to deliver our plans as a reinvigorated innovator brand, with an optimized and profitable network, technologically-advanced fleet, and a strengthened position as the global airline of choice, run by a seasoned team of talented professionals,” Gulf News quoted him as saying.
