Car sales rise by 15% in post-GST month of July: SIAM

• Total passenger vehicles sales registered a 15.12% growth in July
• UV sales saw a major growth during the month as it registered a 35.52% growth
• Commercial vehicle sales too saw a recovery in growth as it posted a 13.73% growth

Car sales in July grew by a good 15% powered by a huge growth in utility vehicles (UV) during the month, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Total passenger vehicles sales registered a 15.12% growth in July as domestic sales rose to 2,98,997 units from 2,59,720 units in the same month last year.

UV sales saw a major growth during the month as it registered a 35.52% growth as it sold 86,874 units during July 2017 in comparison to 64,105 units in the corresponding month last year.

Domestic passenger cars sales grew by 8.52% as it sold 1,92,773 units in comparison to 1,77,639 units in the same month last year.
