Big broadband war! BSNL launches Bharat Fiber broadband to take on Reliance Jio - Check details

Jio vs BSNL: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-run telecom operator, has launched Bharat Fiber broadband services in India. Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Jio had also launched high-speed broadband service Jio GigaFiber last year. BSNL's new broadband plan offers up to 100Mbps of speed. To subscribe the plan, a customer has to pay Rs 500 security deposit, which is refundable for installation of Optical Network Terminal. Besides that, there will be Rs 50 monthly rental charges.
BSNL will further reduce its broadband data prices. “Bharat Fiber bookings have already been started on bsnl portal. Our technology is one of the best as digital India is a national mission and we want to put all efforts to make this happen in every home of our country,” Hindustan Times quoted Vivek Banzal, Director CFA, BSNL Board as saying.
FTTH broadband schemes, BSNL's existing plans, start from Rs 777 a month, which offer speed up to 50Mbps of till 500GB data. After the data limit is exhausted, the users can use internet at 2Mbps speed. The state-run telecom service provider's Rs 1,277 plan offers up to 100Mbps speed till the limit of 750GB, and after that they can use internet at 2Mbps speed. BSNL's Rs 16,999 plan is the most expensive one, which offers 100Mbps speeds till 3,500GB, and 10Mbps after data quota is exhausted, according to the report.
On the other hand, JioGigaFiber preview offer gives you ultra high-speed internet up to 100Mbps for 90 days with 100 GB data monthly and complimentary access to a host of Jio's premium apps. As this is a preview offer, there are no installation charges levied. However, there is a refundable security deposit of Rs 4,500 taken for the ONT device (GigaHub Home Gateway). In case, you consume 100 GB data within a month you can continue to enjoy Jio's high-speed internet services by taking a complimentary data top-up of 40 GB via MyJio App or through Jio.com, according to information available on Jio website. GigaFiber is already being rolled out to select users.
