Nearly all the automobile companies that announced their sales figured on Thursday, September 1, registered higher sales volume in the month of August in the domestic market, with the exception of Ashok Leyland, which saw a loss of 6% in August. The commercial vehicle-maker sold 10,897 units in August opposed to 11,544 units sold in the same period last year.

Renault:

Renault's sales volume hit its highest-ever monthly sales in August at 12,972 units.

The cumulative sales figure for the period January-August was at 86,835 against 26,559 in the corresponding period last year, registering an over three-fold growth, the company said in a statement.

Nissan:

Nissan registered a two-fold growth in its domestic sales at 5,918 units in August.

The carmaker sold 2,809 units in the same period of the previous year.

Toyota:

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) announced a 15% rise in its domestic sales at 12,801 units last month.

The company had sold 11,161 units in August last year. However, exports in August, 2016 declined by 10.24% to 1,244 units as against 1,386 units a year ago, TKM said in a statement.

Mahindra & Mahindra:

M&M’s sales were up 14% in August at 40,591 units compared to 35,643 units sold in August 2015. The company’s passenger vehicle grew 16% YTD, the company said in a BSE filing.

Maruti Suzuki:

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) posted a 12.2% rise in total sales in August at 1,32,211 units as against 1,17,864 units in the same month a year ago.

The company's domestic sales for the month stood at 1,19,931 units, up 12.3 per cent from 1,06,781 units in August 2015.

Eicher Motors:

Royal Enfield's parent Eicher Motors reported a 32% growth in its motorcycles' sales figure at 55,721 units in August. The company sold 42,360 units in August 2015.

Yamaha:

India Yamaha Motor reported a 22% increase in its domestic sales to 74,868 units in August.

The company sold 61,440 units in the same month a year ago, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement.
