Air Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices have been increased by a whopping 9.2% from June 1, PTI reported.

This is likely to affect flyers as airlines are likely to pass on this fuel price hike to their customers. ON May 31, oil companies in India had increased petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2.58 and Rs 2.26 per litre, respectively.

Aviation sector in India has been on the upswing for the past one year largely due to fall in global crude oil prices.

Jet Airways posted its first full-year profit since 2009 for the last fiscal.

Recently listed Indigo Airlines also ended the year with Rs 1,990 crore net profit, according to its filings to the BSE.

SpiceJet, which has seen tremendous turnaround, posted a profit for the fifth consecutive quarter.

At 1007 hours, Interglobe Aviation Ltd was trading down 1.53%, Jet Airways lost 1.58% and SpiceJet was up 0.66%. The broader markets, Sensex, was up 142 points, or 0.53%.
