Ashok Leyland on Tuesday, approved Setco Automotive's popular 380 dial coil spring clutch assy for expanding it's commercial vehicle platforms.

The new clutch assembly covers both BS3 & BS4 models of Ashok Leyland. 

With this approval, the annualized business for OE production vehicles alone would add approximately Rs 35 to Rs 45 crore in the revenue of Setco. Not only this the pull-through of this on aftermarket business would start immediately and is expected to grow by Rs 50 crore from the third year onwards. 

R Sivanesan - Senior Vice President, sourcing & supply chain said of Ashok Leyland said,"The company constantly upgrades the features of its product in order to offer leading edge technology to its customer. With this new clutch system supplied by Setco, Ashok Leyland will deliver better performance, longer service intervals resulting in lower maintainance cost/kilometer."

In addition, Setco and Ashok Leyland are working to offer retro fitment kits to the current population of trucks - which would be another driving factor for top-line growth of Rs 20 crore on an annualized basis, commencing from the current year itself.

Harish Sheth, CMD of Setco Automative said,"The supplies have already started to all designated Ashok Leyland plants at Pantnagar, Ennore & Hosur and the ramp up phase is on."

The new business will be incremental for the foundry business of Setco's new JV Lavacast - a world class fully automated facility to manufacture fully machined high precision grey and SG iron castings.
