At a press conference in California he unveiled the now iconic iPhone as a 3-in-one device that combined a features of a phone, an iPod and an internet device.

While the sales of iPhone worldwide dropping in 2016 for the first time since launch, the phone has reached an iconic status and is also credited for the demise of Blackberry and Nokia. 

Apple's stock price was at $13 in January 9, 2007, grew to $117 as on January 9, 2017.

Apple since then has launched 15 variants of the iPhone. 

It sold 61 lakh units of the iPhone in the first year itself. It also continues to be a benchmark in the smartphone market, whether it was the hardware or software.

In 2008, it launched iPhone 3G, one of the first phones to have 3G network capabilities and GPS services. 

In 2010 it launched the iPhone 4 which was different in its look and styling and was the first for the company to support CDMA network.

The iPhone also brought in a lot of revenues for the company.

It is the primary revenue earner for Apple today. From a revenue of $24,578 million in 2007, Apple's revenues jumped to $2,15,091 million in 2017.
