To become an Amazonian, an aspirant needs to review Amazon's hiring website and the various recruitment programmes, including university recruitment and military recruitment. To make a career in Amazon through these programmes, the company also offers additional support so that the candidates can learn several skills and get experience. Even if you can't participate in the programmes mentioned on the company's website, there are thousands of openings for which you can be hired.

At present in India, there are 485 openings in Bengaluru, 85 jobs in Chennai, 13 in Delhi, 269 in Hyderabad and 47 vacancies in Mumbai. Sean Kelley, Amazon Worldwide Operations Talent Acquisition Director, recently explained to CNBC what it takes to land a job at Amazon.

Kelly said the job application process at Amazon is like "an open book test" and the key is to understand the company's 14 leadership principles and demonstrate those values during the discussion. One of the most important value, an applicant needs to display is "customer obsession". The candidates should have with them several examples to demonstrate this value.

Amazon hiring website gives step-by-step guidelines for the application and interview process. The first step is to submit an online application. This is followed up by a recorded video screen or phone screening by the hiring manager to ascertain the applicant's basic credentials. The candidates are also allowed to ask questions to the hiring manager.

In the next step, candidates are invited to attend 3-4 in-person interviews. At this stage, candidates are not asked trick questions. Hence, they can rest easy, said Kelley.
Candidates need to be curious, get into a dialogue and have prepared several questions to ask the hiring manager.
“We look for people who are relentlessly curious,” Kelley was quoted as saying. “People may run out of questions, that happens, but we like that little spark," he added.
