Each coming day, we see new prepaid plans or revision in the existing ones by telecom service provider. There is tremendous shift in telecom sector, as currently citizen demands more of heavy data and unlimited calling offers at cheap rate, something that can be blamed to Reliance Jio. While, citizens are very happy with ongoing offers made in prepaid plans, the companies on the other hand, feel the pressure in their earning books. However, there is very little that can be done in controlling the dirty cheap rate packs, and once again the largest telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has unveiled two new changes in its prepaid packs in order to take on RJio. The Mukesh Ambani company has been boldly luring customers, while getting on the nerves of Airtel.

However, this time, Airtel has prepped up to lure customers with two interesting recharge packs namely at Rs 159 and Rs 289. It needs to be noted that, Airtel has revised the Rs 289 pack offering heavy data for longer period.

Coming to Rs 289 pack, earlier Airtel used to give 1GB data on daily basis in 3G/4G network for a period of 84 days along with unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day.

According to a report by TelecomTalk, the Airtel Rs 289 prepaid recharge plan has been revised to offer 84 days of validity which means that users will be able to avail the unlimited voice call benefit for almost double the time frame. However, while the plan earlier offered 1GB of daily 4G data, it now comes with a total of 4GB data for the whole validity period.

Reportedly, the offer is only available in Kolkata circle. Meanwhile, other circles such as Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, and Kerala, the prepaid plan comes with 48 days of validity.

Despite its effort, Airtel still lags to the offers made by Reliance Jio. RJio’s cheapest offer for 84 days is Rs 399 where it gives a massive 1.5GB data on daily basis in 4G network. Apart from this, there are unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day.

Going ahead, the second pack of Airtel which is Rs 159 gives a total 1GB data for 21 days along with unlimited local, STD and national roaming calls. There is also 100 SMS per day offered.

Notably, the TelecomTalk report also mentioned that Airtel is offering different data benefits in different circles - in some it also offers 1GB data per day.

Even the Rs 159 recharge pack fails to compete with RJio’s cheapest recharge pack. There is Rs 149 recharge pack given by RJio, where the company is offering 42GB data for 28 days which means a benefit of 1.4GB data on daily basis. In fact, RJio’s most affordable sachet of Rs 98 gives 2GB data for 28 days.
