This is because the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has put on hold its order which said that it will be mandatory to install High Security Registration Pate (HSRP) in all the vehicles registered in the state and plying on the roads. The decision has been put on hold till further orders. As a result of this, a government circular with respect to this has been withdrawn.

The decision was taken after the vehicle owners expressed discomfort over the order making it mandatory for vehicles to install HSRP. Problems were also being faced by the people on applying for this plate via online mode. There were also complaints related to prices of these number plates.

Taking cognisance over the plight of several vehicle owners, Additional Transport Commissioner A.K. Pandey said that it will not be mandatory to put HSRP in old vehicles from now. There will be a fresh order with respect to this.

UP Transport Department to make website itself

To make the application process for HSRP number plate more easy, the UP Transport Department will be making the website itself, where the owner can go and apply for the new registration plate. The website will be made in association with Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Once the website is made, any decision regarding making the HSRP will be taken.

All these things which were not allowed have been reinstated

After the decision on the HSRP has been put on hold, the restrictions on vehicle related work in the Regional Transport Office (RTO) have been started. These works include fitness certificate issuance, registration, address modification, no objection certificate, registration renewal, permit renewal, temporary permit, special permit, national permit.
