Tata Motors is all set to launch its latest compact SUV the Nexon on Thursday. The company had opened the car for pre-bookings earlier this month on September 11. Tata Nexon’s launch will allow the company to enter the highly competitive sub 4-metre compact SUV segment.

The Tata Nexon will compete with top cars in this segment such as Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V.

Tata Nexon will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. The Nexon will come with a 1.2 litre petrol engine, while the car will have a 1.5 litre diesel engine.

The petrol engine gives out a power of 110PS and 170 Nm torque, while the diesel engine churns out 110PS and 260Nm peak torque.

Both engines come with a six-speed manual gear-box and the automatic variants featuring an automated manual transmission is expected to follow later.

The Tata Nexon also comes with big 16-inch alloy wheels that adds to the muscular look of the car.

In terms of safety, it has features such as ABS, EBD, dual airbags and ISOFIX will be offered as a standard across all variants.

Some of the other features include park assist cameras and sensors, day or night IRVM, fog lamps and rear defogger will also be there depending on the variant.

The Nexon will come with a Harman-powered ConnectNext infotainment system with a 6.5 inch touchscreen, automatic climate control and steering-mounted controls for the system.

While Android Auto is being offered during launch, Apple CarPlay is expected to follow soon.

The Tata Nexon is expected to be priced between Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. This is competitively priced as most of the competitors' cars are also similarly priced.
