Passenger vehicles sale rise by 16.7% in August: SIAM

The sales of Passenger Vehicles rose by 16.7% to 2,58,722 units in August this year from 2,21,743 units in the same month previous year, showed data available with industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Car sales also grew by 9.5% to 1,77,829 units last month as against 1,62,360 units in same month last year, the data showed.

Sales of commercial vehicles also picked up by 1.53% to 52,996 units in August, the SIAM said.

On year-on-year basis, the sales of two-wheeler was increased by 26.32% to 16,48,833 units compared to 13,05,348 units in the August 2015. 

Soon, the shares of auto companies surged on the back of positive data.
