The sale of domestic passenger vehicles rose 14.29 per cent to 2,75,417 units in November from 2,40,983 units in the same month last year, said the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) report on Monday.

According to the SIAM data, the sale of passenger vehicles grew by 8.46 percent in April-November 2017 over the same period last year. Within the Passenger Vehicles, Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicle and Vans grew by 4.69 percent, 19.95 percent and 4.69 percent respectively in April-November 2017 over the same period last year.

"The overall Commercial Vehicles segment grew by 10.60 percent in April-November 2017 as compared to the same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) increased by 1.19 percent and Light Commercial Vehicles grew by 17.07 percent in April-November 2017 over the same period last year," the report said. 

Three Wheelers sales increased marginally by 1.32 percent in April-November 2017 over the same period last year. Within the Three Wheelers, Passenger Carrier & Goods Carrier sales registered a growth of 0.35 percent and 5.51 percent respectively in April-November 2017 over April-November 2016, the SIAM report added.

Further, it said, "two Wheelers sales registered a growth at 9.61 percent in April-November 2017 over April-November 2016. Within the Two Wheelers segment, Scooters and Motorcycles grew by 16.15 percent and 7.62 percent respectively, while Mopeds declined by (-) 7.26 percent in April-November 2017 over April-November 2016." 

Talking about overall sales, the SIAM data said, "the industry produced a total 19,486,412 vehicles including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers, two wheelers and quadricycle in April-November 2017 as against 17,818,193 in April-November 2016, registering a growth of 9.36 percent over the same period last year." 

The also putsforth exports data saying, "In April-November 2017, overall automobile exports increased by 11.94 percent. Two and Three-Wheeler Segments registered a growth of 17.48 percent and 21.29 percent respectively, while Passenger Vehicles and Commercial Vehicles declined by (-) 3.69 percent and (-) 23.49 percent respectively in April-November 2017 over the same period last year."
