MG Motor India has launched the much-anticipated Hector Blackstorm Edition with introductory prices beginning at Rs. 21.25 lakh for the petrol-CVT variant. The prices escalate to Rs. 22.76 lakh for the diesel-MT 6-seater variant, excluding showroom charges in India. This newest release marks the third model in MG’s series to receive the Blackstorm Edition treatment, following the Gloster and the Astor. Despite its sleek blacked-out exterior and interior enhancements, the Hector Blackstorm Edition maintains its original mechanical specifications.

The Hector Blackstorm Edition boasts a striking Starry-black exterior finish, replacing all chrome accents with a sophisticated gun-metal finish accentuated by vibrant red highlights. This redesign extends across the grille, MG logo, bumper lining, door cladding, trim connecting the tail lamps, and faux skid plates. Furthermore, the headlamps and tail lamps feature a sleek smoked-out finish, complemented by red highlights on the wing mirrors, headlamp enclosure, and brake calipers. The vehicle's 18-inch alloys and roof rails are treated to a glossy black finish, providing a distinct visual appeal. Customers also have the option to add a 'Blackstorm' emblem on the front fenders at no additional cost through the dealership.

MG Hector Blackstorm Edition: Interior 

Internally, the Hector receives a luxurious all-black treatment with gunmetal accents adorning the center console, AC vents, door trims, and steering wheel. The seats are upholstered in black leatherette with 'Blackstorm' embossing on the front headrests.

Based on the second-from-top Sharp Pro trim, the Hector Blackstorm Edition comes equipped with a 14-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, digital driver’s display, LED projector headlamps, LED connected tail lamps, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Wireless Phone Charger, push-button engine start/stop, and a smart key.

MG Hector Blackstorm Edition: Powertrain Options

The Hector Blackstorm Edition offers both petrol-CVT and diesel-MT powertrains. Customers can choose between the 143hp, 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine paired with a CVT gearbox or the 170hp, 2.0-liter diesel engine coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. While the petrol-MT powertrain doesn't receive the Blackstorm treatment, it's available in 5-, 6-, and 7-seater configurations.

The launch of Black Edition variants is gaining popularity across SUV segments. Among the Hector’s rivals such as the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, and Jeep Compass, all except the Alcazar have introduced their own Black Edition variants, intensifying competition in the market.
