Minda emerged the winner in the auctions by outdoing close to 5,500 bidders from 500 different locations in the country. The car was launched in six different colours and Minda chose to have the Mystic Copper colour. He chose the petrol auto variant because it is for the first time that an automatic transmission unit is on offer on the car. The car will flaunt ‘Thar No 1’ badge on the outside as well as in the cabin, setting this unit apart from others.

"I am truly excited to own this much coveted Thar #1 and contribute to a relevant cause. I would like to thank Mahindra for all the personalised touches in my Thar #1 and making it even more special," he said. "Afterall owning the Thar #1 is not just about possession but an emotion that makes it special."

The car was unveiled on August 15 and was launched earlier this month with the car maker also announcing the prices of all variants. The price of second-generation Mahindra Thar starts at Rs 9.8 lakh for the base model. The prices for the Mahindra Thar AX variants start at Rs 9.8 lakh, going up to Rs 12.2 lakh, all prices ex-showroom. Thar luxury-focused LX variant prices start from Rs 12.49 lakh for the hard-top convertible petrol and go upto Rs 12.95 lakh for the diesel.

Mahindra has made several changes to the design of the new Thar. The car comes with all new exteriors and interiors. The Mahindra SUV would feature BSVI compliant petrol and diesel powertrains mated to six speed manual and automatic transmissions.
