Mercedes S-Class is being manufactured at the carmaker's Chakan plant near Pune in Maharashtra. The Made-in-India S-Class will have certain changes than the CBU model. More than 1.3 lakh locally produced Mercedes-Benz cars produced so far at Chakan. The E-Class and the GLC remain the best-selling models from Mercedes Benz India, said Martin Schwenk, MD and CEO at Mercedes-Benz India.

Mercedes earlier teased the locally made S-Class saying that there will be ‘fresh new interiors combined with the best-in-class technology.

The new-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class CKD will continue to get the same set of features and engine options as the CBU version. Mercedes-Benz India sold 8,958 units between the January and September 2021 period in India.

The big update though will be that India will now get the regular S-Class instead of the AMG Line that was introduced with the CBU version.

In this case, the differences are mostly visual and include a revised bumper, more chrome bits and downsized alloy wheels.

The New generation S-Class launched in June-2021 met with an overwhelming response from customers.

The Mercedes-Benz flagship impressed the media fraternity and retained its fond media title of being the ‘Best Car of the World’.

The overwhelming demand for the CBU car, has led to the advancing of local production of the S-Class.

The wait is hence over and the much awaited and aspired new generation of the ‘World Luxury Car of the Year 2020’ winner, will now be rolled out of the assembly lines of Mercedes-Benz India.

With each new generation the S-Class always creates new standards in automotive excellence, and rolling-out the flagship from our assembly line remains a matter of great pride for the entire India team.

The S-Class will be presented to the Indian market by Martin Schwenk and Piyush Arora through a physidigital press conference.
