The sales figures of automobile players for the FY 2018-19 are out. Automobile giant Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has registered annual domestic sales of 183,787 units during FY18–19. With this, the auto major recorded 8% growth in the financial year.HCIL had sold 170,026 cars during FY17-18. As far as the sales figures of March 2019 are concerned, HCIL registered monthly domestic sales of 17,202 units in March 2019, as compared to 13,574 units in the corresponding month last year. In March 2019, HCIL registered a growth of 27%.

HCIL exported a total volume of 4,794 units during FY 18-19 with export of 38 units during the month of March 2019.

According to the company, "HCIL expanded its sales and distribution network across the country during the fiscal year 2018-19 to 381 facilities in 264 cities." 

Major growth drivers: What led to this growth?

Commenting on the growth in sales figures, Rajesh Goel, sr. vice president and director of sales & marketing of Honda Cars India Ltd said, "One of our growth drivers was the All New Amaze. The launch of our global bestsellers Civic and CR-V reinforced Honda’s premium product line-up.” 

“The iconic all-new Civic, which we launched last month has received an overwhelming response and will give the much-needed boost to the executive sedan segment in India,” Goel added.

Recently, HCIL launched its All New Honda Civic. And, for the first time, a Honda Civic diesel engine option is also available. Honda Civic Diesel variant comes with 1.6L i-DTEC diesel turbo unit from Honda Earth Dreams Technology series mated to a 6-speed Manual Transmission. The diesel variant of All-New 10th Generation Honda Civic has Segment Best Fuel Economy of 26.8 Km/l, as per test data cited by Honda. With the 'best in segment' mileage of 26.8 Km/l of the diesel variant, Honda aims to achieve big targets.
