Suzuki launched the new Swift 2017 on Tuesday in Japan. However, Maruti Suzuki will be launching the next generation Swift in India only in 2017 during the festive season.

The reason for this is the car maker is expected to launch the new-gen Swift Dzire sedan before the new Swift in India, according to an NDTV report.

The new Swift will also make its world premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March in the coming year.

Some of the changes that the new Swift will have includes a hexagonal lattice grille projector head-lamps, fog-lamps, diamond cut alloy rims, etc. The rear of the car will have LED tail-lights and a lip spoiler which will be integrated into the boot lid.

The new Swift will have three engine options, ie a 1.2-litre K12C petrol engine, a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine and a 2.3 kW ISG SHVS engine. While the 1.2-litre K12C petrol will dish out a horsepower of 89.7 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 118Nm torque, the Boosterjet engine produces 100.6 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 150Nm torque.

The transmission options in the new car will include the five-speed manual gear system, a six-speed automatic and a CVT, supported by AWD system.

While tha manual 2WD variant claims to deliver a mileage of 22.6 km per litre, the 2WD CVT variant gives 24 km per litre.
