Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) on Tuesday unveiled that the new Jeep Compass will be sold in India in 2017. The all-new model will replace the outgoing Compass and Patriot SUVs.

The new model is important for India as the company is all set to manufacture the SUV in the country which will meet domestic as well as export markets. It will be manufactured at FCA’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune.

The new Jeep Compass will be positioned in the line-up between the entry-level Renegade and Cherokee SUV. The SUV comes with a 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engine options and will include a 9-speed automatic transmission option.

The new Jeep Compass is based on the company’s ‘Small Wide 4x4’architecture. The company also said that there will be 17 powertrain options available on the new Jeep Compass.

The cars are currently manufactured at Goiana, Pernambuco in Brazil. The new Jeep Compass will be showcased at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show in November.

Last week FCA had announced that the nationwide delivery of the new Fiat Avventura Urban Cross will begin on October 1, just as the country’s festive season begins. The car was launched at a price of Rs 6.85 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).
