In an attempt to promote the electric vehicles, the central government has issued new guidelines, Zee Business reporter Ambarish Pandey reported.

No license required for charging station
As per these new guidelines, any person/institution will now be able to set up public charging stations without a licence. Just need to ensure the technical, security as well as performance standards and protocols fixed for this.

EV public charging infrastructure
The infrastructure for public EVs will be rolled out in a phased manner as per the new guidelines. According to government instructions, "the same tariff will apply to battery charging stations (BCS). The tariff applicable to domestic consumption will apply to domestic charging. 

Phase 1 (one to three years): According to the 2011 census, all mega cities with a population of more than 4 million, all existing expressways connected to these mega cities and important highways connected to each of these mega cities can be taken up for coverage. A list of these mega cities and existing connected expressways has been prepared.

Phase 2 (three to five years): Big cities like state capitals, headquarters of Union Territories can also be distributed and covered for demonstrative effect. In addition, important highways connected to each of these mega cities can be taken up for coverage

The government on Saturday issued guidelines and standards for charging infrastructure. According to the new standards the owner can use his existing electricity connection to access his/her residence/residence. Can charge your electric vehicles in the office. According to the Ministry of Energy, revised, integrated guidelines have been issued, aimed at enabling faster adoption of electric vehicles in India by ensuring safe, reliable, accessible and affordable charging infrastructure and eco-systems.

 Revenue Sharing Model
A detailed list of guidelines for public charging stations has been prepared. It also includes standards of "suitable" infra for civilian, electricity and security needs. To address the challenge of enabling charging stations to promote electric vehicles as per instructions, a revenue sharing model has been created for the land used.

- Government land can be used for setting up of public charging stations
- Revenue- Fixed rate of Rs 1/kWh on sharing basis
- Payment will be made to land-owned agency on quarterly basis
- Contract to be for a period of 10 years
- Power connection to be provided soon on application
- Power connection to PCS in seven days in metro cities
- Fifteen days in other municipal areas
- Connections will be provided within thirty days in rural areas
- Within this period, distribution agencies will provide a new connection YB modify existing connections
- Public EV charging station will have single part tariff for power supply
- Will not exceed "average cost of supply" by March 31, 2025
- State Governments to fix service fee

One must note that since electricity is being made available at concessional rates and keeping in view the fact that pcs are set up in many cases the centre/centre is not able to set up the pcs. Subsidy is being provided by the state governments, the state government will fix the limit on service charges charged by such charging stations.
