Wheat prices edged higher by Rs 5 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today due to increased offtake by flour mills amid pause in arrivals from producing belts.

Jowar and bajra also went up on pick up in demand from consuming industries.

Traders said besides uptick in demand from flour mills, fall in supplies from growing regions mainly helped wheat prices to trade marginally higher.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) inched up by Rs 5 to Rs 1,740-1,745 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,745-1,750 per 90 kg.

Other bold grains like, jowar yellow also rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1,650-1,700 per quintal. Bajra too ended higher by Rs 20 to Rs 1,270-1,275 per quintal.
