The Uttar Pradesh government has drafted a 'khadi policy' that aims to make it popular among youth under the theme of "khadi for youth, khadi for nation", the state MSME Minister Satyadeo Pachauri has said.

"Khadi policy has been prepared for the first time in the state. It will be approved soon in the cabinet," Pachauri told reporters here.

The policy also aims to provide more employment to youth and making women self-reliant by producing khadi on solar 'charkha'.

"The state government for the first time advertised Khadi products on television and will make Khadi more useful for people. On the theme 'khadi for youth, khadi for nation', the government will do research on how to make khadi fashionable by designing," he said, adding the new "khadi plaza" are in the offing.
