Auto major Tata Motors today unveiled the company's new sports utility vehicle Tata Nexon here, aimed at serving the personal car buyers segment.

The new SUV would be made available at an introductory price of Rs 5.97 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai) across the 650 Tata Motors authorised sales outlets.

"We are redefining the SUV segment in India, NEXON will fulfil both aspirational and practical requirements of our new generation customers," Tata Motors, Passenger Vehicle Business unit, Head-Marketing, Vivek Srivatsa said.

"It is a sporty SUV with extremely contemporary styling engineered to deliver excellence with dynamic handling, sporty performance, smart connectivity and comfort along with advanced safety features," he said in a statement.

"With the new turnaround strategy in place, we are working with renewed focus and energy to improve our market share and bring products faster to the market," he said.

The Nexon will be sold in four variants -- XE, XM, XT, XZ+ and would be available in four colours, it added.
