Sugar spot prices increased by Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following immense buying in view of ongoing festive season.

On the other hand, sugar mill gate prices remained mixed.

Marketmen said heavy buying by retailers and bulk consumers such as soft-drink, ice-cream and sweet makers mainly pushed up sugar spot prices.

However, mill gate prices showed a mixed trend with the moderate rise in some of the mills prices, while a few mills prices remained lower on adequate availabilities, they said.

Sugar spot M-30 and S-30 prices traded higher by Rs 30 to settle at Rs 3,930-4,100 and Rs 3,920-4,090 per quintal, respectively.

However, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices traded mixed at Rs 3,590-3,800 and Rs 3,580-3,790 instead of Rs 3,595-3,800 and Rs 3,585-3,790 per quintal.

In mill gate section, sugar Shamli gained by Rs 30 to Rs 3,730, Dhampur rose by Rs 10 to Rs 3,720 and Nanota by Rs 5 to Rs 3,610 per quintal.

While on the other hand, Dorala lost Rs 10 to Rs 3,760 and Anupshaher eased by Rs 5 to Rs 3,590 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal) Sugar retail markets - Rs 39.00-43.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,930-4,100, S-30 Rs 3,920-4,090.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,590-3,800, S-30 Rs 3,580-3,790.
