Soybean prices soared by Rs 36 to Rs 3,156 per quintal in futures trade today as participants created huge positions on the back of positive overseas leads.

Marketmen said a firming trend in global markets mainly supported the upside in soybean futures as speculators indulged in raising their portfolios.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, soybean for delivery in most-active November shot up by Rs 36 or 1.15 per cent to Rs 3,156 per quintal, with an open interest of 57,610 lots.

Likewise, the delivery for the October hardened by Rs 32 or 1.03 per cent to Rs 3,131 per quintal, having an open interest of 44,820 lots.
