On information that multiple companies were allegedly operating from the same address the inspection was done, official sources said.

When contacted, a senior ROC official confirmed the development.

The official said the site inspection was to verify the records of some companies if there are any "irregularities" with respect to the registration address and other details.

About reports that the ROC officials conducted searches at the office premises and found over 100 companies "illegally" functioning under one roof, the ROC official clarified, saying "It is not searches or raids. It is a routine exercise...it is site examination.

Our officials are collecting details and based on their report more details can come out."

The Registrar of Companies comes under Ministry Of Corporate Affairs.
