Rice basmati prices rose by up to Rs 100 per quintal in lacklustre trade at the wholesale grains market today on increased buying by stockists following pick up in demand against tight supply.

Traders said increased buying by stockists due to uptick in demand against restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to rise in rice basmati prices.

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa 1121 variety rose by Rs 100 and Rs 50 to Rs 6,900-7,000 and Rs 5,650-5,700 per quintal respectively.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) Rs 10,700, Shri Lal Mahal Rs 11,300, Super Basmati Rice Rs 9,800, Basmati common new Rs 6,900-7,000, Rice Pusa (1121) Rs 5,650-5,700, Permal raw Rs 2,200-2,225, Permal wand Rs 2,250-2,275, Sela Rs 2,300-2,400 and Rice IR-8 Rs 1,850-1,875, Bajra Rs 1,180-1,185, Jowar yellow Rs 1,400-1,450, white Rs 2,800-2,900, Maize Rs 1,280-1,285, Barley Rs 1,430-1,440.
