Bengaluru-based payments and banking technology player Cashfree, backed by Paypal and Silicon Valley accelerator Y Combinator, has secured USD 5.5 million in series A funding from investors led by Korea's Smilegate Investment.

Other investors in the current round of funding include funds promoted by former British finance minister George Osborne, former managing director of Cholamandalam Investment Vellayan Subbiah, and existing investor Y Combinator also participated, the company said in Tuesday.

Launched in 2015 as a payment gateway, Cashfree is used by over 12,000 businesses for vendor payouts, wage payouts, bulk refunds, expense reimbursements, loyalty and rewards, its co-founder Akash Sinha said, adding some of its customers include Xiaomi, Tencent, ExxonMobil, Delhivery, Zomato among others.

Colive raises USD 9.2 m from Salarpuria Sattva Group Colive, a technology-driven co-living space provider of fully managed rental homes for the young working professionals and couples, has raised USD 9.2 million in Series A funding from the Salarpuria Sattva Group.

Founded in 2016, the Bengaluru-based company will utilize the funding to scale up its operations from 12,000 beds to 1 lakh beds over the next two years, it said in a statement Tuesday.

Earlier, the company had raised Rs 17 crore in pre- series A funding.
