The state cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, resolved to recommend to Governor Justice P Sathasivam to promulgate the 'Kerala Investment Promotion and Facilitation Act-2017', an official release said here.

The objective was to transform the state into a vibrant investment destination and accelerate its industrial growth, it said.

The new act was being formulated after making amendments in seven legislations, including the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, Kerala Groundwater Restriction Act, Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishment Act and Kerala Loading and Unloading act, the release said.

The Cabinet decided to appoint senior IAS officer M G Rajamanikayam as Managing Director of the Kerala State IT Infrastructure Ltd.

He was earlier MD of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation.

The Government in principle decided to set up a sub centre of South Zone Cultural Centre under the Union Ministry of Culture.
