Besides, profit-booking weighed on the sentiment.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in October month shed Rs 8 or 0.89 per cent to Rs 893.40 per kg in a business turnover of 49 lots.

The metal for delivery this month too fell by Rs 7.80 or 0.87 per cent to trade at Rs 888.40 per kg in 2,074 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in nickel prices was mostly in tune with a weak trend in the base metals at the domestic markets due to sluggish demand from alloy-makers amid profit-booking by speculators at current levels.
