According to market players, widening of portfolios by the investors following robust spot market trend mainly led to the upsurge in mustard seed futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustard seed delivery for the April month contract rose Rs 16 or 0.38 per cent to Rs 4,220 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 35,490 lots.

Meanwhile, the delivery of the May month contract moved up by Rs 14 or 0.33 per cent to Rs 4,261 per quintal, with business turnover of 16,440 open lots.
