Mustard seed prices rose Rs 38 to Rs 3,964 per quintal in futures trade today as participants indulged in enlarging positions in tune with a firm trend at the physical markets.

Marketmen said an upward trend at the domestic spot markets largely on tight arrivals from growing belts, led to the rise in mustard seed futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in November spurted by Rs 38, or 0.97 per cent, to Rs 3,964 per quintal, with an open interest of 39,560 lots.

Also, the December contracts registered a rise of Rs 35, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 3,992 per quintal, in an open interest of 17,690 lots.
