Munjal Kiriu Industries, a joint venture between Hero Motors Company and Kiriu of Japan, today commissioned its new auto components manufacturing plant in Gujarat.

The JV partners have invested Rs 150 crore on the facility, which has come up at Mandal near Ahmedabad.

The factory has an installed capacity of 1,500 tonnes per month and the first phase of the machining facility has been commissioned.

"The new machining facility has high productive semi-auto transfer lines...We will be able to provide the best quality parts to our OEM partners in Western India through this plant," Hero Motors Company Chairman Pankaj Munjal said in a statement.

The second phase of the plant is under construction and is expected to be ready by March 2018.

Munjal Kiriu Industries already has a plant in Manesar with an installed capacity of 4,200 tonnes per month. The JV is one of the key suppliers of brake parts to Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Renault, Nissan and Toyota.
