Leading rice company KRBL, which sells under the India Gate brand, today posted a 4.92 per cent jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 103.27 crore in the second quarter of this fiscal.

Its net profit stood at Rs 98.42 crore in the same period last year, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Total income fell marginally to Rs 716.55 crore in the said quarter from Rs 717.14 crore in the year-ago period.

Expenses, however, remained lower at Rs 559.71 crore as against Rs 592.24 crore in the year-ago period.

Shares of the company fell 2.75 per cent to close at Rs 640.05 apiece on BSE today.
