Showcasing the skill and excellence of immensely-talented students, the three-day grand finale of 'India Skills Kerala 2018' concluded here today.

The event was jointly organised by Industrial Training Department and Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE),the nodal agency of the state government for its Skill Development Mission.

Additional Chief Secretary, Labour and Skills Department, Tom Jose, gave away the prizes to the winners at the valedictory function, the organisers said in a release here.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the event would be a stepping stone for the talented students to become job providers of the future.

Sriram Venkitaraman, Director, Employment and Training, and Managing Director, KASE, presided over the function.

The 112 finalists qualified for the grand finale by beating 7,422 participants in the district and zonal competitions.

The state-level winners will represent Kerala at the 'India Skills 2018' planned in July, which will pave the way for their participation in the 45th World Skills Competition in Kazan, Russia in 2019.

The winners from the 20 sectors received Rs one lakh each and the runners-up Rs 50,000 each as prize money.

Consolation prizes were awarded to the participants who entered the state-level competitions.
