Country's second largest private sector lender HDFC Bank has found its place in the list of five companies that have shaped Asia and the world.

It is the only Indian company in the list published by Forbes magazine in its latest edition.

The company established itself by catering to the wealthier segments of Indian society, but has since grown substantially throughout India and today has more than 4,700 branches across three countries, as per the magazine.

Meanwhile, HDFC Bank today launched Industry Academia, an initiative aimed at mentoring and hand-holding fintechs and start-ups incubated at country's top technical and B-schools.

In all, over 50 such partnerships with institutes are envisaged in phase one of the initiative beginning with IIT- Bombay, IIT-Roorkee and CIIE at IIM-Ahmedabad, HDFC Bank said in a statement.
