Gur prices were slumped by Rs 300 per quintal at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today largely on mounting stocks on constant arrivals amid opportunistic buying.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also saw massive fall of up to Rs 650 per quintal due to abounding ready stocks.

Marketmen said bumper stocks on increased arrivals amidst selective buying by stockists and retailers, weighed on gur prices.

In Delhi, gur Chakku and Pedi prices tumbled by Rs 300 each to both settled at Rs 3,300-3,4300 each per quintal.

Gur Dhayya and Shakkar prices also slid by Rs 200 each to finish at Rs 3,500-3,600 and Rs 3,600-3,700 per quintal.

At Muzaffarnagar, gur Laddoo and Chakku prices also plunged sharply by Rs 650 each to conclude the day at Rs 2,950-3,000 and Rs 2,800-3,125 per quintal.

Gur Khurpa also settled down by Rs 550 to Rs 2,750-2,850 per quintal.

In Muradnagar gur Pedi and Dhayya prices plummeted by Rs 350 each to Rs 3,000-3,050 and Rs 3,050-3,100 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal): Gur chakku Rs 3,300-3,400, pedi Rs 3,300-3,400, dhayya Rs 3,500-3,600 and shakkar Rs 3,600-3,700.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,500-2,550, chakku Rs 2,800- 3,125, khurpa Rs 2,750-2,850 and Ladoo Rs 2,950-3,000.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,000-3,050 and dhayya Rs 3,050- 3,100.
