Guar gum prices rose by Rs 44 to Rs 7,961 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators broadened positions on the back of firming trend at physical markets.

Marketmen said widening of holdings by participants coupled with upbeat sentiments at the domestic spot markets led to the rise in guar gum prices at futures trade here.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, guar gum for delivery in current month spurted by Rs 44 or 0.56 per cent to Rs 7,961 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,130 lots.

Also, the most-traded December of guar gum also advanced by Rs 22 or 0.27 percent to Rs 8,040 per quintal, in an open interest of 63,135 lots.
