The government has sold 69.8 crore shares or 3.6 per cent stake in National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) through Bharat 22 ETF scheme, according to a regulatory filing.

"69,888,827 number of equity shares of National Aluminium Company Ltd has been transferred by Ministry of Mines, acting on behalf of President of India to the AMC to the Bharat 22 ETF scheme for the benefit of unit holders," the company said in a filing to BSE.

Through Bharat-22 ETF, comprising shares of 22 companies, the government had targeted to mop up Rs 6,000 crore with a green-shoe option of another Rs 2,400 crore.

The government had on June 19 launched the follow-on fund offer Bharat-22 ETF. It closed on June 22.
