The Corporate Affairs Ministry would give awards for CSR works under the Companies Act, according to a release.

Under the Act, certain class of profitable companies are required to shell out at least two per cent of their three-year annual average net profit towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.

Entries for nominations for the first National CSR awards have been invited from ministries and departments of central and state governments, union territories, the release issued today said.

Besides, professional institutions -- ICSI, ICAI, ICMAI -- as well as and national level trade and industry chambers.

"There are a total 20 number of prizes for national CSR awards," the release said.

A nominating organisation can nominate up to 10 entries in all categories of awards.

The last date for submissions is September 30.
