The development of the new baggage reclaim belt at the airport was yet another project taken up under Hyderabad Airport's "#PassengerisPrime" programme aimed at delivering an enhanced airport experience to all the passengers using the airport, GHIAL said in a release.

Hyderabad airport has registered the growth of 27 per cent in both domestic passenger traffic and domestic air traffic movements in FY2016-17 over the previous fiscal, it said.

The new 60-metre long baggage belt at the domestic arrival will help to effectively distribute the baggage loads, especially during peak hours and would speed up the baggage delivery to arriving passengers, GHIAL said.

"Under our signature #PassengerisPrime programme, it is our endeavour to continuously provide better offerings to passengers - the commissioning of the new baggage belt is one such effort. In fact, we are already working on a comprehensive upgrade of our overall baggage handling system, and further improvements will be commissioned very soon which, would significantly increase the throughput capacity of the system," GHIAL CEO SGK Kishore said.
