Freight rates for the nine-tonne payload section for select destinations were higher by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport in the national capital today on shortage of trucks in the market amid pick up in cargo movements.

Transporters said fresh movements of cargo against tight positions of trucks, mainly pushed up freight rates for select centres.

Delhi to Kolkata, Surat and Mumbai freight rates moved up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 33,000, Rs 28,000 and Rs 30,000.

Rates to Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Puducherry and Goa freight rates also went up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 77,000, Rs 83,000, Rs 70,000 and Rs 61,000.
