Freight rates for the nine-tonne payload section for select destinations dropped by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market in the national capital today following huge position of trucks amid restricted cargo movements.

Transporters said large positions of trucks in the market against reduced cargo movements caused the fall in some of centres freight rates.

Delhi to Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Goa and Kochi moved down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 72,000, Rs 63,000, Rs 61,000 and Rs 75,000.

Rates to Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad and Baroda also went down by Rs 1000 each to Rs 30,000, Rs 27,000, Rs 22,000 and Rs 23,000.
