"A fire was reported in a transformer but was brought under control. There have been no impact on generation," a West Bengal Power Development Corporation spokesperson said.

Officers rushed to the site for a detailed investigation.

"The fire was spotted at around 6 pm. Two fire tenders of the plant and two others of the fire brigade controlled the fire within an hour," KTPS General Manager Tapas Patra said.

The fire was suspected to have been caused by a short-circuit, Patra said.
