"Now is the time that Company Secretaries should optimally unleash their professional acumen and seize various opportunities offered by the government," he said after inaugurating the golden jubilee celebrations of ICSI here.

Radhakrishnan said the secretaries should play a dual role as a young and profound professional and also as a company law expert.

A Company Secretary can immensely support Government in realising 'Ease of doing Business' drive for entrepreneurs and enterprising businesses contributing towards 'New India', he said.

They have a greater role to play in the nation's progress and developments, he said and complemented ICSI "for attaining institutional excellence for being a torch bearer for the cause of good corporate governance for the last 50 years." ICSI local chapter chairman A R Ramasubramania Raja spoke about the road ICSI had travelled in the last 50 years.

He handed over a certificate marking the commencement of 'ICSI - Shaheed Ki Beti', an initiative aimed at funding the education of daughters of their members.
