Chana prices went up by 0.75 per cent to Rs 6,178 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions amid pick up in demand in spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in October month rose by Rs 46, or 0.75 per cent to Rs 6,178 per quintal with an open interest of 28060 lots.

On similar lines, the commodity for delivery in September contracts gained Rs 20, or 0.33 per cent to Rs 6,120 per quintal in 7,810 lots.

Marketmen said fresh positions created by traders due to uptick in demand in spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly led to rise in chana prices at futures trade.
