A significant portion of the population relies on LPG gas cylinders for their everyday cooking fuel requirements.

Gas cylinder explosions or associated accidents frequently make headlines, leading to significant hardships for affected families.

But very few of us know that there is insurance coverage available up to Rs50 lakh for damages caused by gas cylinder explosions or related incidents.

So, each time a gas connection is acquired, an accidental insurance coverage of Rs 40 lakh is provided, subject to specific conditions outlined in a contract between the petroleum company and the insurance provider.

In the event of an accident caused by a connected cylinder, compensation will be sourced from the insurance fund, with claims of up to Rs50 lakh eligible for reimbursement.

Following an accident involving a gas cylinder, only the individual listed as the holder of the connection is eligible to receive the claim.

Insurance claims are provided solely upon verification that the pipe, stove, and regulator of the cylinder bear the ISI mark, ensuring adherence to safety standards.

The family member's representative, who is a customer, must notify both the distributor and the police station within 30 days of the accident.

Within 30 days of the accident, verification of documents such as the FIR, medical receipt, hospital bill, postmortem report, and death certificate about the incident is required.

Once the customer initiates an insurance claim, the distributor informs both the oil company and the insurance provider, facilitating the prompt disbursement of the insurance amount.
