With farm labor decimated by ICE raids, grocery prices are sky-high and the illegal Trump Tariffs are crushing small businesses and consumers. Millions of Americans can no longer afford health insurance. Government by the billionaires is systematically crushing the middle class.</p>
<p>“President Trump sacked hundreds of thousands of federal workers across America— researchers finding cures at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, meteorologists working with farmers or studying climate change at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, front-line health care workers at the VA. These firings drain our government of irreplaceable knowledge and experience and send a wrecking ball through the public services Americans rely upon, including the public infrastructure we need to get us through the next pandemic or disaster.</p>
<p>Raskin alleged that Trump had made American communities less safe by deploying masked federal agents who, he said, intimidated, arrested, detained and even shot US citizens. He claimed this atmosphere of fear had forced schools in some areas to shut for days, as parents were afraid to let their children leave home. According to him, Democrats, Republicans and independents had all condemned what he described as ICE’s authoritarian conduct, accusing agents meant to enforce the law of instead violating it and undermining the Constitution.</p>

Raskin said Trump had failed to “back the blue” by issuing mass pardons to rioters involved in the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack, during which police officers were assaulted and the Capitol was violently breached.
