Donald Trump has claimed that the United States military carried out a high-risk rescue operation to extract a wounded F-15 crew member from deep inside Iran’s mountainous terrain, where Iranian forces were actively searching for him. According to Trump, the officer - described as a highly respected colonel was behind enemy lines and in serious danger before being brought to safety.
In a detailed statement, Trump said such missions are “seldom attempted” due to the risks involved to both personnel and equipment. He added that the operation followed another rescue conducted earlier, making it two separate rescue missions of US personnel inside Iranian territory.
He also announced that he would hold a news conference at 1:00 PM (US time) on Monday, which corresponds to 11:30 PM IST, alongside military officials at the Oval Office.
He said dozens of aircraft equipped with advanced systems were deployed for the operation. The US military, he added, had been tracking the pilot’s location 24 hours a day and carefully planning the rescue.
Trump described both missions as an “amazing show of bravery and talent” by US forces and emphasised that no American personnel were killed or injured during these operations.
