US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Washington is “most likely” close to finalising a deal with Iran, with a formal signing expected as early as June 19, according to foreign media reports. Trump reportedly claimed that talks with Iran were in a decisive phase and that the agreement could be signed “tomorrow or the next day, or maybe Friday”. His remarks appeared to signal that the long-running nuclear and strategic standoff between the US and Iran may be approaching a resolution point.

The US president's latest remarks did not offer detailed terms of the proposed deal. No official confirmation was issued by Tehran.

The contours of the agreement remained unclear at this stage.

According to foreign media reports, multiple channels of negotiation have remained active in recent days, with discussions reportedly focused on finalising the framework of a broader understanding.

The timing of a possible formal deal signing ceremony, however, is still subject to verification from both sides.

The development comes amid continued global sensitivity around Tehran’s nuclear programme and wider regional security dynamics, with markets and diplomatic observers closely tracking any confirmed breakthrough.

US-Iran Deal: All eyes on the June 19 formal signing

On Monday, both the US and Iran indicated that they had reached a final peace pact in their nearly four-month-long conflict that began with joint American-Israeli strikes on February 28 that killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Most experts expect normalcy to return to the Strait of Hormuz -- a crucial maritime route central to the Middle East conflict -- over the next few weeks.

The strait connects the Gulf of Oman with the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea.

Normally, the strait enables the passage of about a fifth of the ​world's oil and gas supply.

Earlier on Wednesday, the US president reportedly reiterated his earlier claim that Iran has agreed to never acquire a nuclear weapon, denying reports that America will pay Iran $300 billion in a peace deal clinched this week. He described reports about the $300 billion reconstruction package as "fake news", according to foreign media. This week, US Vice President JD Vance had said that a potential $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran could be made available if Tehran fulfils its obligations under a future agreement.

While the US and Iran confirmed that they had reached a peace agreement this week, both sides are yet to sign a formal deal on June 19. The breakthrough came after nearly four straight months of escalations that followed joint American-Israeli strikes on February 28 that killed Iran's Supreme Leader.

The American president has repeatedly justified military action against Iran by arguing that the country was close to developing a nuclear weapon. On the other hand, Iran has consistently denied seeking nuclear weapons and maintains its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes.
